Canadian smartphone users who are looking to pick up a new model are in for a treat, since Telus has slashed prices on many of it popular models, offering most for free when you sign-on for a three-year term.

While some of the newest models, like the HTC Desire HD, will still set you back $50, the vast majority are available at no cost after subsidies. Android smartphones that are free with this offer include the original HTC Desire, the LG Optimus One, the Droid-like Motorola Milestone, Samsung’s Fascinate, and the Motorola Charm. Some, like the Charm, stuck on Android 2.1, are clearly past their prime, but despite these phones being from last season’s selection, there are still plenty of relevant models to choose from.

On the Windows Phone 7 side, both the HTC 7 Surround and LG Optimus 7 are part of this promotion. BlackBerry fans can choose from the Bold 9700 or 9780, Torch 9800, Curve 8530 or 3G, and more. Again, don’t look for anything that just appeared at the CES, but there should be at least one phone among all these options that appeals to even the pickiest smartphone buyer.
